Gargoyle Bookend

Gargoyle Bookend is a personal project that brings together digital sculpture and functional home decor. The character’s crouched pose, curved horns and spread wings give it a strong silhouette, while the book-shaped base connects the sculpture to its purpose as a bookend.

The piece was developed with 3D printing in mind from the sculpting stage. Its forms, proportions and surface details were considered as parts of a physical object, so the character would retain its expression and sculptural presence beyond the digital model. The result explores the transition from a fantasy character on screen to a decorative piece made for a bookshelf.
